American Red CrossEach year, the American Red Cross responds immediately to more than 67,000 disasters, including house or apartment fires (the majority of disaster responses), hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous materials spills, transportation accidents, explosions, and other natural and man-made disasters.

Illinois Emergency Management AgencyEvery day Illinois' citizens face natural, technological, chemical and manmade hazards that can produce situations that become disasters. Even though the probability of you or your family being injured or killed in a disaster is very low, it is extremely probable that its effects will impact your lives.
