The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 served as a wake up call to the nation. The tragedies of that day have also reminded us of the importance of preparedness and having sound emergency response plans. The effort to secure the nation is a task requiring the cooperation of federal, state, local, voluntary authorities and private enterprise, along with the active participation and assistance of our citizens.
