Illinoisans can give fishing a try – No license needed during Free Fishing Days
SPRINGFIELD, IL – The 2009 observance of Illinois Free Fishing Days on June 5-8 will feature special events throughout the state promoting fishing and encouraging would-be anglers to give fishing a try. Parks and recreation districts, youth and civic organizations, fishing clubs, and other groups have scheduled fishing derbies, clinics, and other events during Free Fishing Days.

05/25/09 - Governor Quinn Proclaims May 25 Missing Children’s Day in Illinois
SPRINGFIELD, IL – Governor Pat Quinn, along with the Illinois State Police and Department of Children and Family Services, joined families throughout Illinois in observing May 25 as Missing Children’s Day in Illinois. The day provides an opportunity to recognize the progress Illinois has made in safeguarding children and to celebrate the return of those missing children who have found their way home. It is also a time to remember those who were less fortunate or have been victimized, and to find those that are still missing.

Bills expand the Redeploy Illinois Program and improve health insurance laws to help children
CHICAGO – April 7, 2009. Governor Pat Quinn joined with Senator Jackie Collins (D - Chicago), Senator Kirk W. Dillard (R-Westmont), Representative Barbara Flynn Currie (D - Chicago), Representative Kathy Ryg (D - Vernon Hills) and advocates for children to sign Senate Bill 1013 and Senate Bill 101 which benefit Illinois’ children.
