The Department of Central Management Services has received notice from Governor Quinn's Office to fly the United States and Illinois flags at State occupied buildings at half-staff from Sunrise, Thursday, July 2, 2009 until Sunset, Saturday, July 4, 2009.

06/29/09 - IDOT officials stress safety as motorists hit the roadways for the Fourth of July weekend
IDOT suspends lane closures to give motorists a break
SPRINGFIELD - Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Secretary Gary Hannig today urged Illinois drivers to buckle up and stay sober as they get ready to hit the roadways for the Fourth of July weekend. Secretary Hannig also announced that IDOT will make sure roads are open wherever possible, but some projects will continue, resulting in lane closures over the holiday weekend. Motorists are advised to comply with the posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour while driving through a work zone at all times.

Illinois Department of Insurance investigation leads to arrest for fraudulent insurance scheme totaling nearly $370,000
CHICAGO – Larry Chouinard of Kankakee was arrested last week by Bradley police after the Illinois Attorney General unsealed a 19-count indictment alleging that Chouinard engaged in a 5- year scheme through which he collected and personally used tens of thousands of dollars intended for insurance premiums, including payments from Bourbonnais Township and 13 area businesses, the Illinois Department of Insurance announced today.
