01/24/12 - Governor Quinn Announces Federal Funding to Improve Nursing Home Safety
Funding Will Support Landmark Nursing Home Reforms
CHICAGO – January 24, 2012. Governor Pat Quinn today announced $110 million in additional federal funding for enhanced safety, increased staffing and quality standards in nursing homes. Federal authorities approved a federal Medicaid funding match that will allow the state to fully implement the reforms designed to protect frail older adults and persons with disabilities living in long term care facilities. Today’s announcement is the next in a series of steps to improve quality of care at Illinois nursing homes stemming from the work of the Governor’s Nursing Home Safety Task Force.
01/24/12 - Quinn Administration Launches ‘Innovations Project’ To Improve Health Care Results
Coordinated Care Innovations Project will Transform How State Provides Healthcare to Low Income Illinoisans
CHICAGO – Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS) have put out a call for health care providers to collaborate to develop innovative approaches to coordinating care for Illinois’ Medicaid recipients, focusing on improved preventive and follow-up treatments. The “Innovations Project” stems from last year’s Medicaid reforms and is part of the administration’s commitment to moving Illinois towards a health care system that provides incentives for improved health outcomes.
Yesterday, HFS published a formal solicitation that gives providers until the end of May to submit detailed proposals to participate in the “Care Coordination Innovations Project,” under which Illinois will begin a shift toward moving at least 50 percent of its clients into coordinated care programs by 2015. This shift is a key feature of the state’s bi-partisan Medicaid Reform legislation that was signed into law by Governor Quinn. State officials anticipate that this

Rebalancing Plan Will Increase Community Care Options for People with Developmental Disabilities and Mental Health Conditions
SPRINGFIELD – January 19, 2012. Governor Pat Quinn today announced a plan to rebalance the state’s approach to care for individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions. Called the Active Community Care Transition (ACCT) plan, the initiative will increase the number of people with developmental disabilities and mental health conditions living in community care settings across Illinois. Under the first phase of the plan, residents of Jacksonville Developmental Center (JDC) in Jacksonville, IL and patients of Tinley Park Mental Health Center (MHC) in Tinley Park, IL will be transitioned to community settings and the facilities eventually closed.
