When gas prices get too high, everyone suffers. Families have to pay more to get where they're going.
Farmers have to pay more to run their tractors and combines. Truckers have to pay more to transport goods. While we can't do much about the price of a barrel of oil on the world markets, or
President Bush's economic policies, the State still has a responsibility to make sure you are protected as a consumer.
That is why I created the Illinois Gas S.W.A.T – State Wide Action Team. The Illinois Gas S.W.A.T. will make sure that when you buy a gallon of gas in Illinois, you get a gallon of gas.
They are checking the octane levels and pump accuracy at gas stations state wide, and making sure that you are getting the quality and the quantity of gas that you are paying for.
When gas stations aren’t giving you the octane of gas you are paying for, they are cheating you and potentially damaging your engine. When gas pumps aren’t giving you a gallon of gas for a gallon's price,
they are violating the law.
The S.W.A.T. will aggressively look for gas stations that are breaking the rules, and they will pay a fine.
Sincerely,
Rod Blagojevich
Governor, State of Illinois
