Support The Plan

 


  1. Write a letter to your local legislator. Legislators pay attention when their constituency speaks out in support of issues. Find your Legislator.

  2. Write a letter to the editor. Let your community know that you support the Governor’s Helping Kids Learn plan that will boost education funding by an unprecedented $1.5 billion in Fiscal Year 2008.

    Find your media market for newspaper mailing and e-mail addresses.
  3. Reach out to your community. Talk to neighbors, parents, teachers, and school districts about the importance of increasing education funding to provide better resources for the next generation.

  4. Share your story. Submit your testimonial on-line: Visit Share Your Story and follow the instructions. You will also learn more about the plan and be able to read the stories of other Illinois residents who understand the importance of focusing on education.

  5. Include a short article in your organization's newsletter. Use the information on the website to write a brief article explaining the Governor's Helping Kids Learn plan.

  6. Add a link to our Web site on your organization's website. Create a link to the Governor’s Helping Kids Learn plan on your organization's website to ensure your community can access information about the plan.

  7. Share information with family and friends. Encourage family and friends to show their support for the Governor's Helping Kids Learn plan.

  8. Share the PowerPoint presentation with colleagues. Distribute the PowerPoint presentation and other materials amongst your colleagues to ensure that they understand the plan and to help get the word out.
