Speakers Bureau

In an ongoing effort to keep the public informed about the Department's functions and protections against discrimination offered under the Illinois Human Rights Act, The Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) coordinates and participates in workshops, training, events and programs geared towards the public and community organizations.  In order to meet the high number of requests, IDHR has developed a speakers Bureau comprised of staff members who are subject-matter experts in their respective fields.  These presentations differ from agency Training opportunities in that they are shorter in length and are limited to the following topics:

  1. Housing Rights & Responsibilities
  2. Employment Rights & Responsibilities
  3. Pregnancy Accommodations
  4. IDHR Rules and Procedures
  5. Introduction to IDHR
  6. How to Become an Eligible Bidder for State Contracts

Requesting a Speaker

You may request a speaker for your event by completing the Speaker Request Form.  To ensure the accuracy of your request, please be as detailed as possible.

All requests should be submitted at least 2-3 weeks prior to your event date.  We make every attempt to accept requests; however, Speakers Bureau participants may not be available for all events.

No fees or honoraria are associated with requests for a speaker.  This is a free service provided by the Department as part of its mission.

If you are seeking participants for resource fairs or other types of outreach events, or if you are unable to submit the speaker request form, you may contact us by E-mail or by phone at:
