Excel Foundry /Cincinnati Township - DCEO assisted the expansion of this Tazewell County business with a $750 CDAP grant for infrastructure along with an IDOT grant to improve the roads to the foundry which is expanding its facility and adding 100 new employees.

Tazewell County Resource Center Workforce and CDAP grants for a Community Kitchen. We have worked with Deputy Director for Workforce, TCRC, and local growers on a community kitchen at their location in Tremont IL. The kitchen is nearing completion and will not only provide training opportunities for the clients of TCRC, but will provide food preparation for local growers to prepare for market.

Discover Manufacturing Career Expo; this year marked the fourth Discover Manufacturing event for the Peoria area The Specialized manufacturing Group of the EDC for Central Illinois is made up of human resource people from dozens of manufacturers throughout the area, and has been focused on workforce preparation for students in area high schools. The group does outreach into the schools through the year and in October each year they host a Discover Manufacturing event to highlight what a student needs to do to prepare for a career in manufacturing. This year’s event at the Peoria Civic Center grew to nearly 1,200 students who had the opportunity to take factory tours, participate in hands on displays and meet with company representatives to learn firsthand about opportunities available to them.

BSI of Morton: In March of 2012 Bradley Services Inc. a division of Nelson Global Products in Morton IL suffered a devastating fire they were forced to move to temporary quarters in Mapleton IL. The company had the opportunity to move that facility along with the associated job to another state. With the cooperation of company officials, local economic development staff, and DCEO, the company was offered an EDGE tax credit in excess of two millions dollars that allowed the company to rebuild in Morton and save over 150 good paying jobs in the region.
