States Investment will Assist Community-Conscious Manufacturer in Creating New Jobs
ROCK ISLAND August 17, 2010. Governor Pat Quinn today announced that Rock Island-based Mandus Group Ltd. will expand its operations by opening a second manufacturing facility in the city, a move that will create and retain 36 jobs and support economic growth in Northwest Illinois.
Mandus commitment to growth in Northwest Illinois sets a benchmark during these tough economic times, said Governor Quinn. Creating sustainable, long-term employment for hard-working Illinoisans continues to be our number one goal. I am proud to be here in the Quad Cities to celebrate these good jobs for hard-working people.
In addition to its existing facility, Mandus will now also lease a new, 7,500 square-foot facility in Rock Island. The states $428,000 investment will leverage a $971,000 investment by the company and will result in 24 jobs being created and a dozen jobs being retained.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity will administer the states business investment package consisting of Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) corporate income tax credits, which are based on job creation.
Illinois has added nearly 60,000 jobs in 2010 more new jobs than any other Midwest state.
Mandus Group Ltd. is excited to announce the expansion of its manufacturing facility in Rock Island, said Sam Kupresin, company vice president. Mandus Group is honored that the state of Illinois has recognized the significance of our expansion with an incentive package that will contribute significantly to the success of this project and the sustained growth of our company. Located next to the Rock Island Arsenal, Mandus Group is proud to be one of a growing number of companies that have located in close proximity to this historic factory to work in partnership to support our armed forces by providing them quality manufactured products made in the heart of America.
Mandus Group Ltd. is an engineering and manufacturing company which handles a wide range of military and military-related products including artillery and hydraulic system testing, overhaul and repair. In December 2009, the Illinois Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce selected Mandus Group as the 2009 Small Business of the Year. The award capped a banner year for Mandus, which experienced an astonishing 100 percent annual growth rate following the procurement of several large contracts with the U.S. Army. One hundred percent of subcontracted work for the Army contracts was fulfilled by local businesses, cementing Mandus commitment to sustained economic growth in the Quad Cities.
